1. How do I reserve a kitten?
To reserve a Royal Markys kitten, please complete our Kitten Application.
Once your application has been reviewed and approved and a suitable kitten is available, we will provide the applicable Pre-Purchase Disclosure and our Pet Kitten Purchase and Ownership Agreement for review.
A standard CAD $500 reservation deposit is required to secure a kitten and is applied toward the final purchase price, subject to applicable law.
Once a kitten is reserved, Royal Markys may remove that kitten from availability and stop offering it to other prospective Buyers.
If a suitable kitten is not currently available, you may join our Waiting List.
2. How does the purchasing process work?
Our purchasing process is designed to be clear and to ensure that each kitten is placed in a suitable home.
Step 1 — Application
Complete our Kitten Application and tell us about your home, experience with cats, and what you are looking for.
Step 2 — Review & Approval
We review the application and may contact you if additional information is required.
Step 3 — Kitten Match
When a suitable kitten becomes available, we discuss the kitten, price, availability, and anticipated go-home date with you.
Step 4 — Pre-Purchase Review
Before the reservation payment is made, you receive the applicable Pre-Purchase Disclosure and Purchase Agreement for review.
Step 5 — Reservation Deposit
A standard CAD $500 reservation deposit secures the kitten, subject to applicable law and our written deposit policy.
Step 6 — Updates & Final Agreement
We keep you updated as your kitten grows. The final Agreement will include the Buyer information, kitten information, final price, payment details, and transfer arrangements.
Step 7 — Going Home
Your kitten goes home when medically and developmentally ready and all required purchase arrangements have been completed.
3. How much are your kittens?
Pet kittens start at CAD $3,000.
The final price may vary depending on the individual kitten, colour, quality, development, and other relevant factors.
Our standard pet kittens are sold under our PET HOME ONLY — NO BREEDING RIGHTS agreement.
Kittens offered with breeding and/or show rights are priced separately. These placements are considered individually and must be discussed directly with the breeder.
The price of a breeding/show kitten may depend on the individual kitten, colour, quality, intended breeding program, location where the cat will be bred, the Buyer’s breeding experience and plans, and applicable registration or breeding-rights arrangements.
Breeding rights are never automatic and must be expressly approved by Royal Markys under a separate written agreement.
The exact purchase price, applicable taxes, transportation charges, if any, and other agreed costs will be disclosed before a reservation deposit is accepted.

4. What health testing do you provide?
The health and wellbeing of our cats and kittens are a priority at Royal Markys.
Our breeding cats undergo health and genetic testing appropriate to our British Shorthair breeding program, including DNA health testing.
Each kitten receives age-appropriate veterinary care before going home. Available veterinary, vaccination, deworming, microchip, and other applicable health records are provided to the Buyer.
The Buyer is required to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours or 3 business days after transfer.
Our standard Pet Kitten Purchase and Ownership Agreement includes a 12-month limited hereditary and congenital health guarantee, subject to the complete terms of the Agreement.
Health screening and responsible breeding practices help reduce health risks; however, no breeder can guarantee that a cat will never develop an illness or medical condition during its lifetime.
5. Are your kittens sold with breeding rights?
Our standard Royal Markys pet kittens are sold strictly as:
PET HOME ONLY — NO BREEDING RIGHTS
Breeding rights are not included in the standard pet purchase price.
A kitten may be offered with breeding and/or show rights only when specifically approved by Royal Markys. Such placements are evaluated individually and require a separate written agreement.
Pet kittens must be spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian no later than 12 months of age.
If a licensed veterinarian determines that the procedure should be postponed, is medically contraindicated, or is otherwise not medically appropriate at that time, written veterinary documentation must be provided.
A pedigree, registration certificate, show participation, intact status, or physical ability to reproduce does not grant breeding rights.
Elective declawing is prohibited.
6. When can my kitten go home?
Royal Markys kittens are expected to go home at approximately 12–14 weeks of age.
The exact date depends on the individual kitten’s health, development, vaccination schedule, and readiness for transition.
The kitten will not be released until the final purchase price and all other amounts lawfully due under the Agreement have been paid.
If transfer must be postponed for legitimate health, veterinary, developmental, or welfare reasons, we will notify the Buyer and provide an updated anticipated transfer date whenever reasonably possible.
The health and readiness of the kitten always take priority over a predetermined date.
7. Do you offer delivery or transportation?
Yes. Pickup and transportation arrangements are discussed individually with each approved Buyer.
Local pickup can be arranged in British Columbia. For Buyers located farther away, other transportation or delivery arrangements may be considered depending on the destination, the kitten’s age and health, and suitable travel options.
Any delivery, transportation, flight nanny, carrier, or other related costs are not included in the kitten’s purchase price unless expressly stated otherwise.
Before transportation is arranged, the Buyer will be informed of the proposed transportation method, applicable charges, and who is responsible for arranging and paying those costs.
The health, safety, and comfort of the kitten always come first. Royal Markys may decline or postpone a transportation arrangement if it is not appropriate for the kitten.
8. What comes home with my kitten?
Your Royal Markys kitten will go home with the documents and records applicable to that individual kitten.
These may include:
- veterinary health records
- vaccination and deworming records
- microchip information
- applicable registration documentation
- purchase and health guarantee documents
- feeding and transition information
- other records or items specifically provided with your kitten
- approximately one month’s supply of the kitten’s familiar food
- a 30-day Trupanion Go Home Day Offer, with immediate coverage upon timely activation and no payment information required during the 30-day offer period
- Pet Kitten Purchase and Ownership Agreement, which includes our 12-month limited hereditary and congenital health guarantee.
Exact documents and inclusions may vary depending on the individual kitten and will be confirmed before transfer.
9. How should I prepare for my kitten’s arrival?
Before your kitten arrives, prepare a quiet and secure area where the kitten can adjust gradually to the new home.
The kitten should have easy access to:
• fresh water
• familiar food
• a clean litter box
• a comfortable sleeping area
• appropriate toys and scratching surfaces
Introduce family members, other pets, and additional areas of the home gradually.
Avoid sudden changes in diet during the initial transition period. Royal Markys will provide relevant feeding and transition information before the kitten goes home.
Some kittens may temporarily be more cautious, eat less, or experience mild digestive changes because of the stress of moving. Persistent, severe, or worsening symptoms should be discussed with a veterinarian.
10. What happens if I can no longer keep my Royal Markys cat?
We understand that life circumstances can change.
If you can no longer keep your Royal Markys cat, please contact us before permanently
selling, giving away, surrendering, or transferring the cat to another person. Depending on the circumstances, Royal Markys may:
• accept the cat back
• assist in finding a suitable new home
• review and approve a proposed new owner
Our goal is to protect the welfare of the cat and prevent inappropriate rehoming, abandonment, or transfer to an unsuitable home.
Royal Markys will not unreasonably withhold approval of a suitable new home that complies with our pet-only requirements, welfare standards, and applicable law.
A Royal Markys cat should never be advertised as “free to a good home.”
11. What is your reservation deposit and cancellation policy?
Our standard reservation deposit is CAD $500 and is applied toward the final purchase price.
Except where applicable law provides the Buyer with a cancellation or refund right, the reservation deposit is generally non-refundable if the Buyer changes their mind, voluntarily cancels, fails to complete the purchase as agreed, or becomes ineligible under our placement requirements.
If a Buyer cancels for a serious or compassionate reason accepted by Royal Markys in good faith, the kitten may be offered for sale again.
If the kitten is subsequently sold at the same or a higher kitten price, the reservation deposit may be refunded after cleared funds from the replacement sale are received.
If the delayed resale reasonably requires a reduction in the kitten’s selling price or results in reasonable direct re-marketing costs, Royal Markys may deduct those actual amounts and refund any remaining balance.
If the kitten is not resold, no refund is due under this discretionary compassionate-cancellation policy, except where required by applicable law.

12. What should I review before reserving a kitten?
Before reserving a Royal Markys kitten, please review the information provided about our purchase process and policies.

Before entering into the final purchase agreement, the Buyer will receive the applicable transaction-specific information and completed Agreement for review.

13. Does submitting an application guarantee approval?
No.
Submitting a Kitten Application or joining our Waiting List does not guarantee approval, the availability of a kitten, or the placement of a particular kitten.
Royal Markys reviews each prospective home individually.
We may decline or postpone a placement when, based on a reasonable and good-faith assessment, we believe that the proposed home, circumstances, or intended use may not be suitable for the kitten’s welfare, safety, or our placement requirements.
Our goal is to create responsible, long-term matches between our kittens and their future families.
