Markys’ First Cat Show: A Debut That Led to TICA Champion

October 1, 2026

On August 8–9, 2026, Markys of Veronica Vincento/WC entered a cat show for the first time in his life.

His debut took place at the TICA Cats in Summer Cat Show in Langley, British Columbia. Until that weekend, the show hall, judging rings, crowds, other cats and repeated examinations by judges were all completely new to him.

For Royal Markys, the weekend was an opportunity to see Markys in an environment very different from home — and he surprised us with how naturally he handled it. 🐾

Four Allbreed Finals at His First Show

During the two-day show, Markys competed in 12 judging rings.

His debut resulted in four Allbreed finals: 2nd Best Cat and 4th Best Cat under Yvonne Patrick, 10th Best Cat under Aline Noel Garel, and 10th Best Cat under Erin Brown.

Those placements were an exciting result, but what impressed us just as much was his behaviour throughout the weekend.

Markys remained calm, confident and comfortable despite the unfamiliar surroundings and constant activity around him. At home, we already knew his affectionate and people-oriented personality. The show allowed us to see that same stable temperament under completely different conditions.

Official Recognition from TICA

When TICA completed the official scoring, Markys had earned 1,180 points, four total finals and four qualified finals.

On September 30, 2026, TICA confirmed that these results qualified him for the title of Champion (CH).

His official title became:

TICA Champion Markys of Veronica Vincento/WC. 🏆

What This Achievement Means to Royal Markys

Markys was chosen for our breeding program long before he entered a show ring.

His pedigree, European bloodlines, health testing, British Shorthair type and temperament were all important parts of that decision.

A show title is not a substitute for any of those qualities. What it gives us is something additional: an independent evaluation of Markys in a competitive environment and another perspective on the qualities we value in our breeding cats.

That is why his first show became such an important milestone for Royal Markys.

We went to Langley to begin Markys’ show journey.

We came home having learned more about him — not only as a British Shorthair, but as the calm, confident and affectionate cat we hoped he would continue to be outside the familiar surroundings of home.

And shortly afterward, his first show became part of his official record as a TICA Champion.

For us, that is a first chapter worth remembering. 💙
